Whose Business is it Anyway??

Well, just in case you were wondering it's our business! Ever since Nathan got out of the Army about a year ago, our goal has been to get into the apple business. Nathan spent the last year or so as an apprentice to his dad around the family orchard. Rich and Karen were kind enough to give us the opportunity to lease the "North Orchard" which is about 15 acres of Red and Golden Delicious apples. This land is located about a mile and a half north of Tieton. It is part of a property bought by Nathan's Great Grandpa Otto for his four sons in the early 1900s. Nathan's dad bought it from his dad around 1980. We are very excited to carry on the tradition, even though we are just leasing the property for now. Nathan has been very busy getting our business all set up. We now have a business licences, tax identification number, checking account, lease agreement, and a plethora of other legal and tax items. We are both very excited and nervous about the up coming year. Nathan has been hard at work pruning and working on Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) requirements. Nathan is very anxious to see all of his hard work pay off this upcoming harvest season. This is "our" orchard as seen from above. The house in the corner was Nathan's Grandpa and Grandma's house until the early 1990s.
